Stellenbosch Food Community Unites to Support Beloved Food Storyteller Errieda du Toit

The Stellenbosch food, wine and hospitality community has rallied together in support of beloved South African food writer, cookbook author, television content producer and scriptwriter Errieda du Toit, hosting a special fundraising dinner to assist her and her family as she faces significant health challenges.

Taking place on 24 June at Lanzerac Estate Hotel & Spa, the fundraising event brings together some of the Cape Winelands’ most respected chefs, winemakers and hospitality professionals, all of whom have generously donated their time, expertise and products in support of the initiative.

For decades, du Toit has played an influential role in shaping South Africa’s food culture. Widely recognised as the beloved huiskok on RSG, she has inspired generations of home cooks through her storytelling, recipes and deep appreciation for South Africa’s culinary heritage. Her extensive body of work includes producing food content for the popular television series Kokkedoor and authoring several acclaimed cookbooks, including the Kokkedoor cookbooks, MasterChef SA – The Cookbook and Share: A Century of South African Community Recipes.

The fundraiser is being presented by Onderstok Food Creative, a collective of Stellenbosch chefs dedicated to celebrating food, creativity and community, in partnership with Stellenbosch Wine Routes. The event has been made possible through the generosity of Lanzerac, participating chefs, wine producers, hospitality partners and suppliers who have come together to honour a woman who has given so much to South Africa’s culinary landscape.

The evening will be hosted by media personality Martelize Brink, who has also generously donated her time to support the cause.

The culinary line-up includes renowned chefs Bertus Basson (Bertus Basson Family Restaurants), Garth Bedford (Joostenberg), Drikus Brink (Toevlug), Marthinus Ferreira (Jordan Restaurant), Stephen Fraser (Lanzerac), Cornelle Minie (Middelvlei), Shaun Scrooby (VUUR), Michelle Theron (Vergenoegd-Löw) and Jess van Dyk (Post & Pepper), all contributing their talents to create a memorable evening in honour of du Toit.

“Errieda has touched countless lives through her passion for food, storytelling and bringing people together around the table,” says chef and restaurateur Bertus Basson. “She is a cherished member of our community, and this dinner is our way of giving something back. Through the generosity of everyone involved, we hope to provide meaningful support to Errieda and her family during a challenging time, while celebrating the extraordinary contribution she has made to South African food culture.”

Guests can look forward to an unforgettable evening of exceptional cuisine, outstanding Stellenbosch wines and heartfelt camaraderie, all in celebration of a woman whose impact on South African food and wine extends far beyond the pages of her books.

All proceeds from ticket sales will go directly towards supporting Errieda and her family.

Those unable to attend the dinner can still contribute through the fundraising campaign established on BackaBuddy in support of Errieda and her family.

  • naturally like your web site however you need to take a look at the spelling on several of your posts. A number of them are rife with spelling problems and I find it very bothersome to tell the truth on the other hand I will surely come again again.
