Retro Vibes, Electric Soul: The iCAUR 03T Charges into South Africa
The distinctive electric SUV will launch in two derivatives, combining nostalgic design cues with modern technology and strong standard specification.
The electric vehicle market is about to get a serious dose of personality. While many modern EVs are chasing aerodynamic curves that all start to look a bit… well, the same, iCAUR (Chery Group’s adventure-focused brand) is taking a detour down memory lane.
Arriving in South Africa in May 2026, the iCAUR 03T is a boxy, bold, and unapologetically retro SUV that proves “electric” doesn’t have to mean “boring.”
Design: Modern Tech Meets Classic Grit
The 03T stands out by leaning into its “square” roots. Its upright proportions and confident stance are a nod to classic off-roaders, but the details are pure 2026. Think LED lighting signatures, 19-inch alloys, and a panoramic sunroof that opens up the cabin to the African sky.

Power & Performance: Two Ways to Play
At launch, iCAUR is offering two distinct flavors of the 03T to suit your driving style:
| Feature | 2WD Derivative | AWD Derivative |
| Battery Size | 66 kWh | 70 kWh |
| Drive Type | Front-Wheel Drive | All-Wheel Drive |
| Sound System | 8-Speaker iCAUR System | 12-Speaker Premium System |
Full performance specs, including range and power output, will be revealed closer to the May debut.
A High-Tech Sanctuary
Don’t let the rugged exterior fool you; the interior is a masterclass in modern comfort. Both models come standard with:
- Massive 15.6-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
- Heated and ventilated electric front seats.
- Full climate control to handle the SA heat.
Safety Without Compromise
iCAUR isn’t cutting corners on protection. Every 03T comes equipped with a comprehensive safety suite, including:
- 540-degree camera (perfect for tight parking or navigating trails).
- Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keep Assist.
- Forward Collision Warning and Emergency Braking.
- Six airbags and a robust electronic stability programme (ESP).
“The 03T is designed for buyers who want their EV to have personality,” says Shannon Gahagan, National Brand and Marketing Manager for iCAUR South Africa. “It blends a distinctive retro-inspired design with the benefits of modern electric performance.”
The Countdown to May 2026
Whether you’re an urban commuter or a weekend adventurer, the iCAUR 03T is shaping up to be the most “main character” EV on the road. Stay tuned for final pricing and range details as we approach the official launch!
