Do You Have What It Takes to DJ at ULTRA South Africa?
MXD introduces a nationwide DJ Search to find South Africa’s next star of the electronic music scene

The search for South Africa’s next breakout DJ has officially begun. In partnership with MXD, Ultra South Africa has launched a nationwide DJ search that will give one rising talent the opportunity to perform at Ultra South Africa 2026.
The competition is looking for DJs who have mastered the art of the dancefloor — the resident DJs who know how to read a crowd, build energy and keep people moving all night.
A panel of judges led by Mörda, alongside Dwson and The Hype Factory, will be searching for the next standout talent ready to move from the club booth to the festival stage.

Regional heats will take place in Pretoria at Europa (20 March), Cape Town at Club Paradise (27 March), and Durban at Harry James (1 April). The top DJs from each city will move on to a national Top 6, followed by a public vote to determine the finalists.
The winner will secure a performance slot at Ultra South Africa 2026, a year-long MXD ambassadorship, mentorship from Bridges for Music, and guest mixes on 5FM and YFM.
How to Enter
Aspiring DJs must submit a 15-minute showcase mix via MXDofficial.co.za before 15 March 2026.
🎧 Think you have what it takes? Submit your mix and you could be the next DJ performing at Ultra South Africa
