REVIEW: ALLUVIA WINE FARM, STELLENBOSCH’S HIDDEN GEM
So over the easter weekend, the guide team made their way to Stellenbosch to check out Alluvia wine farm. Alluvia is a charming and picturesque boutique wine farm tucked away in the Stellenbosch Valley.

For those unfamiliar with the wine farm, Alluvia offers a tranquil spa, a mountain-view restaurant, a wine-tasting lounge, and accommodation. A dedicated kids’ menu is available at the restaurant of this family-friendly wine farm.

For couples looking for something intimate and romantic, Alluvia offers a picnic setting where you can order one of their delicate picnic baskets while overlooking the lake.
What we got up to
Lunch:
We got to spend some time at the restaurant enjoying some of their delicious comfort food. The menu consists of small plates that serve as the best starters and can easily be shared amongst friends.
What we had on the menu.

- Spicy pan-friend squad
- Thisa nyama
- Prawn and mussel bamboo basket
- BOCCONCINI & AVOCADO SALAD (V)
The standout meal that you must order from the menu is the Tshisa Nyama which comes with succulent BBQ glazed beef short rib, delicious chakalaka, and buttery pap. The pap was just a bit too buttery for our liking but the meat and chakalaka were the highlights.

For the mains, we opted to try out their gourmet beef burger with the most delicious crispy and crunchy onion rings (hands down the best onion rings we had, a must-try). We also ordered the lamb shank was well-cooked and easily fell off the bone complemented by some creamy mash.
Wine tasting:
We got to taste some of Alluvia’s house wine (one white and two red wines) including their award-winning Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine tasting is affordable and it set us back R70 for three glasses.
Picnic:

After lunch, we had a golf cart waiting for us to chauffeur us to the lake to enjoy a picnic near the lake.
All in all, it was a great experience. Friendly staff, affordable food, amazing views, great food, and amazing ambiance. If you are ever in the Stellenbosch wine valley do make Alluvia one of your stops.
