THE RUSSELL PETERS DEPORTED WORLD TOUR
Who can ever forget the legendary “Be a Man”? After four years since his last performance in South Africa, Russell Peters is back with the SA leg of his Deported World Tour. Thanks to the Comedy Central team I was lucky enough to catch him in Pretoria on Sunday evening at the Sun Arena in Menlyn.
Peters returns to touring after recently filming his CTV/Netflix series The Indian Detective which first aired in November 2017. He can also be seen in the Clapper with Ed Helms, Amanda Seyfried and Tracy Morgan as well as Supercon with Ryan Kwanten and John Malkovich, and Adventures in Public School with Judy Greer.
Having started in 1989, his career spans more than three decades. The now 49-year-old Canadian-born, global comedy superstar says his passion for performing continues to grow and this can be seen with his latest stand-up offering. Featuring all-new material, Peters’ ‘Deported World Tour’ hit Cape Town and Pretoria and is set to complete his latest visit to SA in Durban on Tuesday, 21 May. The show has already traveled to more than 29 cities in 20 countries and been seen by over 100,000 fans worldwide. True to Peters’ style, he continues to use humor to highlight racial, ethnic, class and cultural stereotypes. He impersonates the accents of various South African ethnic groups and pokes fun at them. Without giving away too much, the cherry on top for me was that the world-renowned Canadian knew where Lenasia and Laudium is!
If you are a serious stand-up comedy freak or looking for something fun or funny to do on Tuesday evening, catch Russell Peters at The Globe, Suncoast Casino in Durban. https://tsogosun.computicket.com/events/russell-peters-deported-world-tour-7086346?_ga=2.53913322.354270234.1558366671-1123702732.1558366671
