First Impressions: HONOR X7e – A Promising Budget Smartphone Contender?

The HONOR X7e has officially landed on my desk, and I’ve spent the last 48 hours getting familiar with it. Positioned as a highly durable, battery-focused entry-level contender, this device is making some seriously bold promises.

I am currently putting the device through its paces for a full, in-depth review dropping on July 31st. But before the final verdict, here are my quick first impressions and the standout features I absolutely cannot wait to push to the limit:

1. The Monolithic 7,500mAh Battery

This is the headliner. A 7,500mAh battery in a phone that is only 8.29mm thick is pure engineering wizardry. HONOR claims you can easily get up to two days of heavy use on a single charge.

  • What I’m testing: I’m planning to run a brutal battery-drain test—heavy media streaming, gaming, and hotspotting—to see if it truly frees me from the anxiety of carrying a power bank. I’ll also be timing how quickly the 45W SuperCharge can juice up this massive cell.

2. Built Like a Tank (SGS 5-Star Drop Protection)

Most budget phones feel fragile, but the X7e comes with a 5-star SGS Premium Drop & Crush Resistance certification and an IP64 dust and water resistance rating. It is built to survive accidental drops of up to 1.8 meters.

  • What I’m testing: While I won’t intentionally fling it off a double-story balcony, I’m looking forward to seeing how it handles everyday wear and tear, pocket keys, and accidental splashes.

3. The Physical “Instant AI Button”

Physical shortcut buttons are making a massive comeback, and HONOR has integrated a dedicated Instant AI Button 2.0 on the side. With single taps or long presses, it’s designed to give you instant access to smart actions, text generation, and writing polish tools.

  • What I’m testing: As someone who loves productivity hacks, I’ll be testing how seamless this button actually makes daily tasks. Is it an intuitive shortcut that genuinely streamlines my workflow, or is it just a novelty?

4. 120Hz Eye Comfort Display & 300% Stereo Sound

For its price point, featuring a 120Hz refresh rate on a 6.61-inch display is a great touch for ultra-smooth scrolling. Pair that with a dual stereo setup that promises a 300% volume boost, and this looks like a budget entertainment dream.

  • What I’m testing: I’ll be assessing the display’s outdoor visibility under direct sunlight (it boasts 1,010 nits peak brightness) and seeing if the 300% volume mode keeps the audio crisp or if it distorts at high levels.

Early Verdict

Right out of the box, the HONOR X7e feels incredibly solid, and the Sunrise Orange colorway is a total eye-catcher. It’s clear HONOR is targeting users who value sheer endurance and daily reliability over raw, high-end processing power.

Mark your calendars for July 31st! I’ll be releasing my final performance benchmarks, camera samples from the 50MP sensor, and a detailed battery breakdown to let you know if this is the ultimate budget champion of 2026.
