From London, With Love: The Savoy Returns to Cape Town for an Afternoon Tea Worth Booking Now

There are few hotel names that evoke quite as much romance and intrigue as The Savoy in London. This winter, Cape Town once again gets a taste of that storied legacy as Cape Grace, A Fairmont Managed Hotel, welcomes back the highly anticipated From London, With Love Afternoon Tea experience.

Following last year’s successful debut, the limited-edition collaboration returns to Heirloom at Cape Grace from 17 July to 13 September, bringing one of Britain’s most iconic tea traditions to the V&A Waterfront.

Set against sweeping marina and mountain views, the experience sees members of The Savoy’s esteemed team travel to Cape Town to co-create a menu alongside Cape Grace’s culinary experts, blending over 137 years of British tea-time heritage with the flavours and ingredients of the Cape.

The menu is a love letter to both destinations. Guests can expect elegant savoury bites, delicate pastries and a contemporary interpretation of the legendary Peach Melba—the iconic dessert first created at The Savoy by celebrated chef Auguste Escoffier in honour of opera star Dame Nellie Melba.

Perhaps most exciting for food enthusiasts is the South African debut of Scoff, The Savoy’s cult-favourite scone bakery. Known for elevating the humble scone into something extraordinary, guests will have the opportunity to try a miniature version of its beloved Tiramisu Scoff, alongside seasonal cakes inspired by local produce.

Adding to the experience is a curated tea pairing, including an exclusive blend created specifically for Cape Grace, with the option to add a glass of bubbles for an extra touch of indulgence.

What makes this collaboration particularly special is its sense of storytelling. While Afternoon Tea at The Savoy is traditionally served on classic tiered stands, this Cape Town edition has been reimagined with a more contemporary presentation that feels distinctly local while still honouring one of London’s most celebrated rituals.

For those who appreciate heritage, luxury and the art of slowing down, this is more than just Afternoon Tea—it’s a rare opportunity to experience a piece of one of the world’s most iconic hotels without leaving Cape Town.

And with names such as Marilyn Monroe, Charlie Chaplin, Winston Churchill and The Beatles all having passed through The Savoy’s legendary doors, one cannot help but wonder: what stories might unfold over tea this season?

From London, With Love Afternoon Tea is available at Heirloom, Cape Grace from 17 July to 13 September and is priced at R750 per person, including a welcome glass of bubbles or iced tea.

Bookings are highly recommended.
