MOONCHILD SANELLY CELEBRATES TRIUMPHANT HOMECOMING PERFORMANCE AT WANDERERS STADIUM

Moonchild Sanelly’s highly anticipated FULL MOON – Return to Jozi show delivered an unforgettable homecoming celebration on 30 May, bringing together thousands of music lovers at Wanderers Stadium as part of the Bafana Bafana send-off event ahead of the national team’s FIFA World Cup campaign.

Supported by the SAMPRA Development Fund, the electrifying performance showcased the power of investing in South African music and talent development, allowing fans to experience one of the country’s most celebrated global stars on home soil. The event formed part of SAMPRA’s ongoing commitment to supporting South African artists and ensuring local music continues to thrive.

Taking to the stage with her signature energy, bold creativity and unmistakable presence, Moonchild Sanelly delivered a standout performance packed with fan favourites and music from her critically acclaimed album Full Moon. The crowd, spanning multiple generations of supporters, responded with overwhelming enthusiasm as they sang along, danced and celebrated one of South Africa’s most distinctive musical voices.

The day was further elevated by performances and appearances from local stars, including Daliwonga, Nia Pearl, Cassper Nyovest and other leading South African artists, creating a vibrant celebration of local music and culture. The event’s connection to the Bafana Bafana send-off added an extra layer of national pride, uniting sport and music fans in a uniquely South African moment.

Fresh from touring internationally and performing on some of the world’s biggest stages, Moonchild’s return to Johannesburg was a full-circle moment for an artist whose journey began in Durban and Johannesburg before taking her future-ghetto-funk sound to audiences across the globe.

One of the most memorable moments came after the performance, when Moonchild took time to meet fans personally, signing everything from sneakers and caps to T-shirts and memorabilia. The meet-and-greet offered supporters a rare opportunity to connect and celebrate with the artist.

Moonchild Sanelly said, “Johannesburg will always have a special place in my heart. To bring Full Moon home and feel that energy from the crowd was incredible. The love, the singing, the dancing – everything reminded me why I do this. Meeting fans afterwards and hearing their stories was one of the highlights of the day.”

She added, “Thank you to SAMPRA for supporting this event and helping make opportunities like this possible for South African artists. Investing in local music means investing in our stories, our culture and our future.”

While Moonchild Sanelly continues her international touring schedule across Europe, she is looking forward to reconnecting with South African audiences again soon on her return.
