Not to be Missed: The 2025 Durbanville Sauvignon Blanc Has Arrived!

Finally, it’s here! The much-anticipated release of the 2025 Durbanville Sauvignon Blanc from Cape Town’s northern vineyards has officially been signed off. Wine lovers now have the exclusive opportunity to be among the first to taste this remarkable creation—crafted by a collaboration of 10 leading wineries in South Africa’s premier Sauvignon Blanc region.

The wine will be launched at a special Sauvignon Blanc Soirée on 9 May, a not-to-be-missed event for fans of the varietal.

A Coveted Release from a Cool Climate Champion

Tickets to this annual showcase of South Africa’s cool climate Sauvignon Blanc sell out quickly, so early booking is essential.

Now in its fourth year, the Durbanville Sauvignon Blanc has become a celebrated expression of the region’s distinctive terroir. Durbanville’s cool climate allows for the optimal ripening of Sauvignon Blanc grapes, resulting in vibrant wines with excellent structure and character.

Since 2022, this collaborative project has brought together the best fruit from across the valley and united it with the collective winemaking expertise of the participating farms. The 2025 vintage continues this tradition, showcasing the excellence that has come to define the label.

A Collaborative Masterpiece

Grapes for this year’s vintage were sourced from Diemersdal, De Grendel, Bloemendal, D’Aria, Durbanville Hills, Groot Phesantekraal, Klein Roosboom, Maastricht, Meerendal, and Nitida.

Once again, the responsibility of compiling the final blend was entrusted to Diemersdal, whose reputation for Sauvignon Blanc is internationally acclaimed.

“This year may very well be one of the best we’ve experienced,” says Thys Louw of Diemersdal.

Winemaker Juandré Bruwer, who oversees the blend alongside Mari Branders, echoes the sentiment:

“This vintage truly excites me. It’s one of those rare years where everything aligned perfectly.”

A Region of Accolades

The quality of the 2025 Durbanville Sauvignon Blanc is underscored by a long list of awards earned by local producers over the past year. Highlights include:

  • Five-star ratings in Platter’s South African Wine Guide for:

The Essence of Durbanville in Every Bottle

Juandré Bruwer says the collaboration reflects the spirit of Durbanville:

“It’s a testament to a dedicated and progressive community—open to sharing knowledge and support—that I’m proud to be part of. This wine embodies everything Durbanville: its soils, its people, and our shared values.”

The 2025 vintage promises another standout year, with hallmark features including steady ripening, naturally high acidity, and low pH. The result? Above-average yields and wines bursting with flavour, showcasing a balanced blend of minerality, tropical fruit, and subtle green notes.

The launch also coincides with International Sauvignon Blanc Day, celebrated globally on 2 May—the perfect lead-up to the Durbanville soirée.
