On Friday, 4 August 2017, McDonald’s ® opened its doors in the energetic and always lively Small and Pritchard streets in bustling downtown Johannesburg. The grand openings were an introduction of the newly styled and refurbished McDonald’s restaurants – with a McCafe® Gold counter as the much talked about feature. Customers were welcomed by the iconic aroma of the world renowned menu- featuring the all new Double Big Mac. They were also treated to live music and great prizes to complement the atmosphere, as they enjoyed their favourite McDonald’s ® meals.

The revamped restaurants, have been fitted with what McDonald’s® South Africa terms the Experience of the Future, boasting a wider menu range, including for the first time- freshly baked muffins, croissants, toasted sandwiches and chicken wraps, courtesy of the Gold Standard McCafe®. The Gold Standard McCafe®  also boasts a premium and iconic Simonelli coffee machine, providing a world class sensory experience- served by global standard trained barristers. This development, which forms  part of the brand’s deliberate experience shift, opens up customers to an exclusive taste profile with widespread quality product offers on the new menu.

“Johannesburg is a constantly evolving city and what better way to show off our commitment to bringing world class service then to show off with these two stores.” said Greg Solomon, Chief Executive Officer of McDonald’s SA.

The global brand continues to grow in South Africa, marking over 250 restaurants opened to date. McDonald’s South Africa makes these expansions with a commitment to investment in the communities in which the restaurants live, sharing little moments of lovin one city at a time.
