Launched in South Africa in late 2016, this singular, award-winning whisky is crafted using a bespoke blend of the finest unpeated Highland and Speyside malts, combined with Scottish grains for a smooth, approachable style. The majority of the Highland and Speyside malts selected are matured in American oak casks which contribute toward the rich oak and vanilla characteristics, and the fruity, floral elegance.
Scottish Leader’s progressive approach to blended Scotch has received outstanding recognition at this year’s International Spirits Challenge (ISC), securing a gold medal for the 12-year-old, for the second time.
This strong performance follows a successful review of the Scottish Leader blending team in early 2016, which saw the brand embrace a fresh, collaborative team approach to the production of its premium Scotch. This commitment to differentiation led to the appointment of Dr Kirstie McCallum in the newly created role of lead blender. Her extensive technical capabilities and skill, supported by a 15-strong blending team with nearly 400 years combined experience, ensures batch precision every time.
Commenting on the recent ISC accolade, Michael Lloyd, global marketing manager for Scottish Leader said: “We have worked hard over the past few years to ensure we have created a distinctive range of blends that stand tall and proud in the market place and complement Scottish Leader’s brand ethos to provide a ‘New Perspective’ on standard blended Scotch. The award acknowledges all of our efforts and new innovative, collaborative approach.”
Scottish Leader recently joined forces with Dennis Chuene, the South African designer behind the successful Vernac brand, to produce a beautifully shot video to demonstrate what it means with its ‘New Perspective’ tagline. To view the video clip, go to: http://bit.ly/2njcJk5.
