Ready. set. go. Inspiring the youth through music

One of South Africa’s leading bank has turned to music to help inspire young South Africans to achieve their ambitions and prosper.

Ready Set Go, an upbeat dance song performed by Nonku featuring Lebo Mochudi, was commissioned by the bank to rally the youth to upskill and educate themselves and seize various opportunities to change their lives.  It was composed, produced, and published by Audio Militia.

Today, the bank and Audio Militia released the music video for Ready Set Go following the song’s initial release a week ago.

Ready Set Go is an uplifting song dedicated to the youth and the young at heart reminding them that opportunity always lies ahead; they just have to get ready and go after their dreams and aspirations. “As a bank we are making it our business to help them achieve this” says Sazini Mojapelo, Head of Citizenship at Barclays Africa.

The song is used to compliment the bank’s ReadytoWork initiative that Sazini has been driving for the past year.

ReadytoWork is an employability initiative that helps to train and equip young people for the world of work. It is a free online training curriculum that seeks to empower young people with the training and skills they need to enhance their employability and entrepreneurial prospects. It provides access to world class learning content, focused on work, people, money and entrepreneurial skills, through online content, face-to-face training and workplace exposure. ReadytoWork is one of the initiatives that forms part of the bank’s R1.4bn 3-year investment in education, announced earlier this year.

“We’re really excited about this campaign and believe that it will inspire the youth to take charge of their lives and make it their own. It is always great to be involved in music projects that stand for empowerment and a greater purpose in motivating the youth” says Nonku; the Artist, Graphic Designer, Art Director and Strategist currently based in Johannesburg.

The song also features Lebo Mochudi; well-known rapper, who’s worked actively with legendary African-bred, internationally-acclaimed rapper Tumi Molekane of Tumi and The Volume.  “Skills enhancement and education of the youth is imperative for our society – I am so honoured to be a part of a campaign that drives skills development amongst the youth.”
