A few weeks ago The Guide team braved the Johannesburg weekend cold in order to join Grant whiskey and #RaiseTheBar. The aim of the event was to celebrate their multi award winning 18 Year Old variant whisky ,and also celebrate artists who are raising the bar in their respected field like Rapper Reason, comedian Lazola Gola and photographer Max Mogale.
The event was held at the Opulent rooftop, Randlords in Braamfontein-Johannesburg, with spectacular view overlooking some of Johannesburg’s beautiful buildings. In attendance were some of Johannesburg’s media, bloggers and socialites.
Lazola Gola was the MC for the night and he did an exceptional job as the host of the night, with his quirky jokes that had the crowd in stitches throughout.
Another highlight throughout the night was the performance by SA rapper Reason, who is one of the rappers raising the bar in the hip hop game, here’s what he had to say on how he is #RaisingTheBar “In all honesty, I wouldn’t know where to start. I’m a believer of small wins. Many of which are bar raisers I don’t present as such. For me, the quality of my verse on the “No Sleep Remix” is as much a bar raiser to me as is having DJ Sway going crazy over my song from all the way over in the States”.
After Reason’s performance, guests got an opportunity to enjoy some Grant cocktails and nibble on some delicious finger foods that were on offer and also Raised a glass to the hustlers raising the bar respectively.
DJ Shimza took the DJ to spin some good tunes that had the crowd dancing throughout the night.
The event was one for the books. Props to The Grant whisky and Butterknief team.
