The guide team was invited to the exclusive launch of the of the highly television show produced by coca cola called Coke studio. The launch was held at the swanky venue called The Tin Factory in Sandton.

The venue was prepped to perfection in a coke themed manner utilizing old coke bottles to create lighting and table decorations throughout the venue we wouldn’t  expected anything else; after all it is coke we talking about.

Coke studio is Africa’s most famed and respected artists are hooking up to create a range of electrifying musical fusions on Coke Studio, a 16 week music show broadcasting on e.tv at 8:30 Artists, including the likes of Mi Casa, Cassper Nyovest, Oliver Mtukudzi and The Mahotella Queens, have come from all corners of Africa to unite in their shared passion of music.

The show kicked off later than expected with our MC of the night was none other than radio DJ Rob Vember who did a stiller job and managed to keep the crowd entertained and he also did a great job interviewing Sharon Keith, Marketing Director of Coca-Cola Southern Africa and some of the artists that will be participating in the 16 week show.

What Sharon Keith had to say about the show “Coke Studio is all about bringing African talent together to create fresh and interesting music. We have chosen some of Africa’s best artists and challenged them to use what makes them unique – their background, their nationality, their musical genre – and fuse it with someone else’s. The product of which is something never been seen or heard before

From generation to generation, music has been and will always be a means of expressing ourselves. It steers our emotions and enhances our lives. From Hip-Hop to Pop to Jazz, music makes the soul happy. Coke Studio is about pushing boundaries, exploring the length, breadth and depth of musical possibility and ultimately keeping a diverse South Africa a little more connected,” says Keith.

The venue was packed with some of joburgs media, bloggers and some of South Africa’s music talents like Mi Casa, black motion, Donald, Mathew Gold, Riky Rick and The Muffinz to mention a few. We were also treated to some musical performances from the likes of Lelo, Kabomo, mpumi and Micasa from their latest tracks that will feature on the show which was amazing.

Coke Studio will air on e.tv every Monday night at 8:30pm from the 24th of August.
