A South African Star at Northcote Obsession 25

This February, Chef Patron Ivor Jones of Chefs Warehouse Beau Constantia joins an elite culinary lineup at the 25th anniversary of Northcote Obsession, an internationally celebrated gourmet festival held in England’s Ribble Valley. Jones will take over the kitchen at Northcote, a luxury hotel and Michelin-starred restaurant, on February 7, marking a milestone in his illustrious career.

Known as the “Glastonbury of gastronomy,” Obsession began in 2001 as a celebration of exceptional food, wine, and camaraderie. Over the years, it has evolved into a globally acclaimed event, attracting a dazzling array of world-class chefs. This year’s edition spans 17 unforgettable nights in January and February, featuring 21 culinary maestros who collectively hold 27 Michelin stars.

A Star-Studded Lineup

This year’s roster includes some of the most illustrious names in the culinary world, such as Alain Roux of The Waterside Inn (three stars), Hélène Darroze of Hélène Darroze at The Connaught (three stars), Yannick Alléno of Pavyllon in London (one star) and Alléno Paris (three stars), and Ed Wilson of London’s Brawn. The festival, curated under the visionary leadership of Northcote’s executive chef Lisa Goodwin-Allen, celebrates innovative chefs and diverse cuisines, with tickets selling out as soon as the lineup is announced.

“When Lisa asked me to be a part of this event, I fell off my chair,” Jones admits with a smile. “I’ve admired these chefs from afar my whole life and never dreamed of cooking alongside them. It’s an incredible honor and an exciting opportunity to explore the UK’s extraordinary local produce. I’m also looking forward to the camaraderie; it’s a rare chance for the industry to come together in such a meaningful way.”
