Restaurant Review: Iron Steak and Bar – A Must-Visit Gem on Bree Street
Bree Street has cemented itself as a foodie’s paradise, boasting some of the finest restaurants that can rival the best in the world. Iron Steak and Bar is among these culinary gems, a staple that stands proudly across from the famous Clarke’s restaurant. Its striking black and gold exterior makes it a standout, beckoning passersby to enter. Iron Steak and Bar has earned its place as an iconic spot on Bree Street, renowned for its legendary steak cuts, fabulous cocktails, and infamous happy hour specials.
The wonderful team at Iron Steak invited us to sample some of their famous dishes, and we are excited to share our experience with you, our fellow food enthusiasts. The interior boasts a dark, cozy ambiance with modern touches, making it the perfect venue for an intimate outing with your partner or friends.

Starters: A Flavorful Prelude
We began our culinary journey with their popular KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) drizzled in gochujang sauce. This dish is a must-order; the chicken was crispy, and the gochujang sauce with ginger elevated it to the next level. The flavor combination was outstanding. We also tried the Lemon Dill Fish Cakes with salmon caviar, another standout dish. Each bite was a new experience, with flavors that complemented each other perfectly. It’s clear that Iron Steak and Bar is not just about the steaks; their starters are equally impressive.

Mains: Steakhouse Perfection
Of course, you can’t visit a steakhouse without trying their steaks. Iron Steak offers a variety of cuts, from on-the-bone to off-the-bone, including South African wagyu. We sampled several cuts: from the on-the-bone menu, we ordered a T-bone that came with a leafy side salad. From the off-the-bone menu, we chose a Picanha, a cut of beef from the top of the rump that is incredibly flavorful. We ordered our medium steaks, which were perfectly cooked with a beautiful pink warm center and a charred outside. The T-bone was a standout, melting in our mouths with every bite. We also tried the popular Flat Iron steak, which was beautifully done and delicious. To accompany our steaks, we ordered the truffle leek mac and cheese and creamy spinach, both of which were delectable.

Dessert: A Sweet Finale
Despite being full, we couldn’t resist dessert. We ordered the picturesque Raspberry Mousse & Compote, Pistachio Mousse & Praline, White Chocolate Glaze, and Edible Chocolate Soil. Created by their in-house pastry chef Michelle, this dessert was a work of art and tasted even better than it looked.

Our experience at Iron Steak and Bar was exceptional. We highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting Bree Street for a great steak. The venue is beautiful, and the staff are knowledgeable about the food and different types of steaks. While premium cuts of steak might come with a higher price tag, the other menu options are affordable. And let’s not forget their happy hour special every day between 4-5:30 pm on wines, cocktails, and beers.
In conclusion, Iron Steak and Bar is a must-visit destination for steak lovers. Whether you’re enjoying the lesser-known but flavor-packed Flat Iron steak or indulging in their signature T-bone, you’re in for a treat. This iconic restaurant on Bree Street delivers an unforgettable dining experience that will leave you planning your next visit.
